Voxxli ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Voxxli mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the App. Please read this policy carefully. By using Voxxli, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Audio Recordings
When you use Voxxli to record audio or import audio/video files, the recordings are stored locally on your device in the App's sandboxed storage. We do not upload, transmit, or store your audio recordings on any external server.
1.2 Transcript Data
Voxxli uses Apple's on-device speech recognition (SpeechTranscriber, DictationTranscriber, and SFSpeechRecognizer) to transcribe your recordings. All speech-to-text processing happens entirely on your device. Transcripts are stored locally alongside your recordings and are never transmitted to our servers.
1.3 AI-Processed Data (Summaries, Flashcards, Chat, Speaker Identification)
To provide AI-powered features - including summaries, flashcards, chat responses, and speaker identification - Voxxli sends your transcript text (not audio) to Google's Gemini API (Gemini 2.5 Flash model). This means:
- Your transcript text is transmitted to Google's servers for processing.
- Your audio recordings are never sent to Google or any third party.
- Google processes the text to generate summaries, flashcards, chat answers, and speaker labels, and returns the results to the App.
- Google's use of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and the Gemini API Terms of Service.
- According to Google's Gemini API data usage policy, data sent through the API is not used to train Google's models when using a paid API key.
1.4 Subscription and Purchase Data
Voxxli uses RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat processes:
- An anonymous app user identifier (not linked to your Apple ID or personal identity).
- Purchase receipts and subscription status from Apple's App Store.
- Device type and app version for analytics.
RevenueCat's handling of this data is governed by RevenueCat's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your Apple ID, payment method, or billing details.
1.5 Usage Data Stored on Device
Voxxli stores the following data locally on your device using UserDefaults:
- Free tier usage counts (number of recordings, imports, and AI summaries used).
- App preferences (appearance theme, transcription language, onboarding completion).
This data is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to us or any third party.
1.6 Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personal contact information.
- We do not collect location data.
- We do not use cookies or web tracking technologies.
- We do not collect device identifiers for advertising purposes.
- We do not create user accounts or require sign-in.

3. Third-Party Services
Voxxli integrates the following third-party services:
3.1 Google Gemini API
- Provider: Google LLC
- Purpose: AI text analysis (summaries, flashcards, chat, speaker identification)
- Data sent: Transcript text only (no audio, no personal identifiers)

3.2 RevenueCat
- Provider: RevenueCat, Inc.
- Purpose: Subscription management and purchase validation
- Data sent: Anonymous user ID, purchase receipts, device type, app version

3.3 Apple Speech Recognition
- Provider: Apple Inc.
- Purpose: On-device speech-to-text transcription
- Data sent: None - all processing occurs on device

4. Data Storage and Security
All recordings, transcripts, and app data are stored locally on your device within the App's sandboxed container. This data is protected by iOS's built-in security measures, including:
- App sandboxing (other apps cannot access Voxxli's data).
- Device encryption (data is encrypted at rest when your device is locked).
- Secure file storage within the App's Documents directory.
Network communications with Google's Gemini API and RevenueCat use HTTPS encryption (TLS 1.2 or higher).
5. Data Retention
- On-device data: Recordings, transcripts, and all associated data remain on your device until you delete them within the App or delete the App itself. Deleting a recording permanently removes the audio file and all associated data (transcript, segments, chat messages).
- Google Gemini API: Transcript text sent to Google for AI processing is subject to Google's data retention policies. According to Google's API terms, data sent via the Gemini API with a paid key is not retained for model training.
- RevenueCat: Subscription data is retained by RevenueCat as necessary to manage your subscription. See RevenueCat's privacy policy for details.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. Data is only shared with the third-party services described in Section 3, solely for the purposes of providing the App's functionality.
7. Children's Privacy
Voxxli is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
8. Your Rights
Because Voxxli stores data locally on your device, you have full control over your data:
- Access: All your data is visible within the App at all times.
- Deletion: You can delete individual recordings (and all associated data) at any time by swiping to delete in the App. Deleting the App removes all locally stored data.
- Export: You can export your transcripts and summaries as PDF or Markdown files using the App's export feature.
- Portability: Exported files can be used in any compatible application.
For EU/EEA Residents (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation, including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, and data portability. Since Voxxli primarily processes data on your device, most of these rights are inherently satisfied. For any data processed by third-party services (Google Gemini API, RevenueCat), you may exercise your rights by contacting those providers directly or by contacting us.
For California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. For requests, please contact us using the information below.
9. Microphone Permission
Voxxli requests access to your device's microphone solely for the purpose of recording audio. Microphone access is only active when you explicitly start a recording. The App does not access the microphone in the background or at any other time. You can revoke microphone access at any time in your device's Settings.
10. Speech Recognition Permission
Voxxli requests Speech Recognition permission to enable on-device transcription. This permission allows Apple's speech recognition frameworks to process audio locally on your device. No audio data is sent to Apple's servers for this purpose when using on-device recognition (iOS 26+).
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes are effective immediately upon posting.
